VOTE FOR WOMEN

In 1918, getting the vote changed history. In 2018, using your vote will change it again.

Vote for Women was a side project designed to encourage people to vote in Ireland’s 2018 abortion referendum, by drawing parallels between the suffragettes and women’s rights today. The crux of this initiative was a self-published zine, which unfolded to become a protest placard for the pro-choice marches happening in Dublin. The zine had information on how to register to vote, and why we should vote yes. The project lived on social too.

It culminated in an exhibition with Hen’s Teeth, “The Art of Protest”; where we invited female illustrators and designers to create art prints inspired by protest placards, with all profits from print sales going to the Together for Yes campaign.

Co-founders Avril Delaney and Katie Kidd were invited to talk about this project on The Other podcast. Vote for Women was selected for the 100 Archive.
